Default it always misses, it was intermittent for a while, would miss fire, then id pull over

play around with the coilpack wiggle things around, then 10 miles later would misfire, it would come and go in spirts, now it is consistent, whenever I start up the car, it is misfiring right from the start, it isn't the coilpacks because i swapped those around and it made no difference. I also tried a bunch of different new plugs, and still only misfires in cyl.2

Default swapped fuel injectors and it is still saying cylinder 2 is misfiring so now I know it isn't the inj

slowly ruling things out I guess.

Default Since it also says cyl 2 ignition circuit: open circuit ... more inside

These are the codes it throws ...

3 Faults Found:
17766 - Cylinder 2 Ignition Circuit: Open Circuit
P1358 - 35-00 - -
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16686 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0302 - 35-00 - -

Doesn't the 1st code mean it is something electrical? I am really really leaning towards the pins/wiring that runs to the coil packs ... If i want to test for continuity do I need to cut the wires to get a connection or just touch them against the pins pos. on top and neg. on bottom of the pin? Or how should I go about doing that?

Thanks alot all.

Default I tried using carb cleaner around cyl 2's intake manifold gasket, and it changed nothing ...

I think it is the wires to the coil pack FTW.

Default Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow.

Do a compression test. If you have squeeze, then you have no spark or no fuel.

Default You could check the resistance between the ECM and the coil connectors.

You're probably right about the connector/wiring being faulty.

Default Wait I thought the ecm was the same as the icm, and I thought there was no icm in the 01's

am I confused?

If so where might the ecm be and how excactly would I test that connection?

Default Pin out the wires between the ECU connector and the coil pack connector

You should have no/very little resistance, if its open you either have a break in the wiring or a problem with the connector(s). Refer to the bentley manual for a wiring pinout of the ECM connector and the coil connector. The wiring connector for the ECM is numbered at either end, count pins till you find the number the bentley manual specifies as the pin, trace the wire (via wiring diagram) and locate the pin on the coil connector, and connect your ohmmeter to the pins to check for continuity.
