if i file a hit and run claim to have my car fixed, will it affect my insurance?

however, insurance companies have ways of running their business where it'll come back to bite you in the a$$ at the most unlikely time. For instance, if they institute a new policy that drops people who have had 3 or more claims inside of 3 years...this incident might be the one that puts you over the top.
If the damage can be repaired reasonably close to your deductible, I would leave the insurance company out of it. If the damage is something like $2K, and your deductible is $500...then I would be more inclined to file the claim. Your call.
Best thing to do is call your agent, and ask them how and if a hit and run claim will affect your rates.

It never affected my car ins..but when I filed for motorcycle insurance, the rate almost doubled because of the "incident"... i'm in california so when you have to file a claim for more than $500 bucks you have to file the paperwork w/ the DMV for the details of the incident.
