I just got a 2000 1.8T. I've been driving it lately to get better with a 5-speed, occassionally pushing it hard in 2nd and maybe 3rd gear. My quesion is, today after a run, I forgot to let the engine idle for a minute or so. Am I gonna cause some serious harm if I keep forgetting? How much harm is caused just after one driving period of about 30 minutes? I just want this engine to last forever.... Thanks.

I've done that too - don't worry these are great engines. You need to run the engine 1 minutes (with air conditioning OFF) after driving for more than 3 hours (at normal speeds) or after driving it very hard. This helps lubricate and cool down the Turbo. Keep in mind that letting the car warm up a minute in the morning, and waiting till engine oil is at operating temperature before hard driving, is even more important than the cool down period.
