if i have a bad wastegate should i replace it or the whole turbo????

Wastegate is not a factory spare part.

Default I would say if the impeller shaft and fins are ok and seals are good then

just replace the waste gate. A $175 part is better than $800. I think you would look for excessive play in the shaft and see if the fins are bent or broken. Also if there is a lot of oil in the turbo housing itself, those would be indicators that the turbo should be replaced. You also need to see if its the flap itself inside the turbo or just the wastegate acuator. I think if its the flap that broke, you need a new turbo

From whatI've read on the forums, its commom for these k03/k04 wastegates to blow.

Plus your turbo is internally wastegated (assumption).

Probably just the diaphram, not a lot ofr working parts. The Diaphram can be found seperate.

I assumed you had a standalone WG, no clue if you have a internal WG/stock setup
