Default If you don't reset codes with a VAG do they always stay resident?

Like when changing ECU it throws an loss of power to the ECU code. Does that always stay resident until the VAG clears it or does it clear itself over a period of time? If so anybody know how long?

I believe the ECU power-loss code stays resident, has to be cleared with VAG tool.

Default Some are permanent, others temporary. Depends on the nature and severity of the error.

But AFAIK they all can be cleared with a VAG.

Default I don't have a VAG and i like to switch my ECU's before going in for sevice so ...

I wanted to know if I needed to reset the Loss of power code or could I just switch a week before and have the code reset itself?

Default From a personal experience, the dumb Air Bag light may flicker in cold weather if it holds a code

More specific, from a power loss

As Andy said, that one's permanent, can only be cleared with a VAG tool.
