Default If you have a dim trip computer display, and it's replaced - does it last?

I have a 1998.5 A4 with the trip computer. The display screen is getting dim at the edges, and my dealer plans to replace the whole instrument panel. I know this is a fairly common problem, but do the replacement display screens last, or do they go dim over time, too? My dealer doesn't know. //Steve

Default They also dim out over time...

my old one was dim to the point of not being able to read it, the new one (a year ago) has 1 LED getting dim, so I am going to contimue using it as I fear the next one may just all go dim like the first one.

Default My experience is that they do dim out also...

Had mine replaced about four months ago, and so far a few LEDs have started to become a little dim, not nearly as bad as before, but like the other poster, i am worried that they will poop out eventually as well. Also, as noted before, the problem does seem worse in hot weather, so as summer rolls around, we'll see....
