the paint under the splashguards gets trashed. Sand, grime and grit gets trapped under them, and grinds away at the paint.

Just took mine off yesterday. Fortunately the damage wasn't too bad (you can barely tell), but I could see where it was going. Had them on for about 30k miles.

I wish I never installed them. Don't know what I was thinking. Looks better without them anyways, IMO.

Default I took off, trimmed not to drag, repaired paint, and put on a clear film to protect

Then I put them back on. My paint was so damaged, I had to. There not bad once I trimed about 1" off the bottom.

The film was 3M clear protector stuff. I got a narrow roll from Griot's Garage.

Default Why? If you're leaving them on permanently, there's no need to worry about this...

Audi has a 12 year (or longer) warranty against body rust and corrosion.

A. If I still have my A4 after 12 years, shoot me in the head.

B. If AoA tries to deny a claim for body rust from their "official" splash guards wearing away the paint, I'll be talking to a lawyer.

C. It's a non-visible portion of the car (unless you plan on removing the guards for some reason)

Default Mine shifted around slightly......

and you could actually see wear occuring beyond the edge of the guards, starting to become visible.
