Is it illegal to be pulled over or ticketed if you dont have a front license plate in CA?

Default CA law says you MUST have a front license plate. If you get pulled over, just be ready...
...to recieve a fix it ticket.

cops that are punks and have nothing better to do will write you one. I haven't yet - but my bro has had them many times.

Default i haven't run a front plate in 20 years in CA.
lots of cars don't have front plates. i got a ticket one time from a CHP who 'wanted' to give me a speeding ticket but i saw him before he could pace me. so he pulled me over and gave me the front plate ticket just for spite. normally they've got better things to do. it's a 'fix-it' ticket: you put the plate on, go to any cop-shop, show 'em, and they sign off. it's $10 processing fee only then.
