Default I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with Audi's parts swapping during summer/fall '97.

Argh. Sunday afternoon, nice day to replace my failing ignition switch. All parts sources told me that, based on my VIN, I had the white switch with the large diameter nose on the housing. Naturally, once I get everything torn appart, I find that my car has the other switch. Of course, what did I expect?

Now, need to decide whether to put it back together with the bad switch or leave it apart and see if I can get the right one on Monday.

Early model 1998 FTL.

My local dealer had the switches in stock.

Negative. It's the rare 1998.25.

Default Well, I bought the other switch from ECS -- which they had to order -- and I already opened......

the package, so I'm guessing that the only hope I have of returning that one is if I get the right one from them as well.

Default Decided I better put it back together. Did give me a chance to take apart the CC switch...

...to clean the contacts. Now to see if that helped any.

In this case, I got the 1998 switch, but I need the 1997 switch.

Hey, that did fix the CC. Didn't really seem crazy dirty, I guess it doesn't take much.
