There originally was a guy called August Horch in Germany and he used to make really upmarket cars. Anyway after the company merged with another he was kicked out. He then started a new company to make cars but couldn't use his name obviously. Horch means "hark" or listen so he used the latin for listen which is AUDI. By the way it's like HOWDEE without the H. Later on all the companies merged and became AUTO UNION which is where the four rings come from. Horch, Wanderer. DKW and AUDI.
