Default Installed Pure Motorsports' front strut bar last weekend... impressions:

For anyone not '01.5, the option to install a front strut tower bar can be done via ModifiedA4's tech article, or via PureMS' front tower bar. Given the insane amount of maintenance I've been doing lately with my car, I preferred a plug-and-play solution, rather than having to fabricate anything. The cost for parts to piece together the tech article when I priced it out was about $30-$40 cheaper than buying the bar from Pure Motorsports outright. To me the $30-$40 extra was worth it for the lack of fab time and the fact that the bar comes powdercoated.

Install time was about 45 minutes, I had some extra wires and tubes in the way, so I took my time making altered homes and routes for them. There are literally 8 bolts to the whole thing, the most difficult part of the operation is lining everything up.

My driving impressions over the last week or so have been great. Steering feedback and response is improved, my turn-in is more crisp, and the bar just adds extra element of control to cornering. It's surprising how little chassis flex there is now after adding the bar, it really stiffens everything up, the car feels quite a bit more neutral handling in corners.

Good value, fast shipping from Pure Motorsports, and an easy plug-and-play solution.

Default do you not have the factory bar? I've always been curious to add another. WWP ;)

Default I concur, this was the first mod I did to my car and have loved it ever

since, reduced chasis flex under cornering loads and the plug and play option is what I was looking for.

Default I think that the factory bar is the best solution, you dont need another one :)

welded in mounts, steel bar, 3 point mounted. *jealous*

Default Nope, mine's an '01, not 01.5. I got the proverbial shaft.

But the install was brain-dead simple. I'll snap some pics this weekend :P

That's too bad, I was going to get one too. Should have taken my Racetech off my '00.
