Installing Infinity 552i Speakers
Hi there,
I'm installing some Infinity 552i speakers in the front of my '96 Audi A4. I'll be using MB Quart adaptors. As i understand from some other posts, I may have to modify the speaker adaptor, but thats not what worries me...
A have a question which I hope some of you may be able to answer, which is (assuming you've installed some 552i's), did you have any depth problems using these speakers? Does your window wind-down normally all the way down? And does the door car and factory grill fit over the speaker ok without any problems?
If you haven't installed 552i's in the front, and you've installed, a different model of Infinity's please let me know what model they are, and if you had any problems with them. I dont really want to go for MB Quart speakers. I love Infinity's!
Your help would be much appreciated!
Thanks again.

I've got the older version of these installed. Took some trial & error but they fit fine.

Re: Not much help but here are my Kenwood eXcelon's installed w/ no adapters.
Nice job!
Heres antoher two questions for you. Would you expect there to be any depth problem, as regards to the window being able to wind-down properly? Or is there ample room behind almost any 13cm speaker?
And would you strongly recommend components at the front? Im going for components at the rear at the mo. Not sure if i'd need them at the front as I have a factory tweeter. Hit me back!

Info.
Factory tweeter is not designed to match whatever midbass driver you put up front. I would highly recomend separates in the front as this is where your sound stage is created. Factory locations are not wonderful but they are acceptable. I removed my rear speakers entirely and left the holes open for the sub in my trunk. I have very good sound throughout the vehicle, including rear seat passengers.
I have no depth issues whatsoever, but the eXcelons are a very shallow speaker and I didn't take up any space with an adapter.
