Default Installing Sport Seats in an A4 without Sport Seats?

I know there are a lot of posts on this and I have read them but I don't understand why the non sport seats are so much different from the sport seats? I really wanna get S4 seats for my newly purchased A4, I am not even sure which seats I have in mine. Can someone enlighten me?

Default S4 seats are not the same "sport seats" as found in A4s

Sport seats from an A4 going into a non-sport seat'd A4 should be no sweat. However, S4 seats require more modification apparently. Good luck

Default I may be wrong on this...

but AFAIK manual (cloth) Sport seats from a 1.8T should fit without any problems. The difficulty is putting the Sport seats from an S4 or 2.8 since they are powered and have different rails or mounting points.

If your seats are leatherette, they are NOT Sport seats. Otherwise, Sport seats have larger bolsters than the non-sport. Someone here should have pics.

Also, the power seats sit a bit higher, so if headroom is an issue, I'd sit in an S4 before going too far with this.

Default Re: Installing Sport Seats in an A4 without Sport Seats?

The sport seats are only available in the 1.8T and they're manual cloth seats. Now the seats in the S4 are somewhat similiar in design but are powered and wrapped in leather.

Unless you have powered seats in your A4, replacing them with the S4 seats will be a daunting task. The brackets are different as well as the wiring.

Kind Regards

Default I know kennyc has a pair of cloth sports seats for sale.

You might want to check with him on availability. You will only be able to get cloth sports seats for the A4. You can then get a kit to cover them in real leather though.

Default s4 seats are different than A4 sport seats.

A4 sport seats are manually adjusted,
S4 seats are automatic (and not a direct swap AFAIK)

Default But I have seen S4 seats installed in an A4 1.8t

Like it has been said previously, the S4 seat will not fit in the 1.8t due to different rails. But it is possible to do a swap, but a lot of work has been done. I know for a fact since I have seen it on one car, belonging to UROTRASH. He has done the work to fit the S4 seats to his highly modded 1.8t. He said it was an incredible amount of work. And if he had to do it again, he wouldn't.

Default Driver side is direct plug in, however, the passenger side is the problem...

You need to cut off a welded bracket, drill and thread 2 holes, then wire up the power / heat.
