Instrument Cluster Change

If I pull the original instrument cluster from my 2000 A4 Quattro 2.8L 5 speed and replace it with a rebuilt/remanufactured unit how big a deal is it to code my old mileage into the new cluster? I've also heard all the existing keys will need to be reprogrammed to recognize the new cluster. Is there anyththing else that needs to be done? If I can find someone with a VAGCOM can they do everything that needs to be done?
