Instrument cluster display actin' funny
i have read through multiple threads, people have had similar but not exactly the same issue... so:
basically my display on the instrument cluster (steering column) has always had a few lines in it, but recently the display went blank...
https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2583482.phtml
- that thread was the closest issue. My twist is that, when i start the car the entire display works just fine. it displays "SERVICE!" in the marginal portion, and it displays the fuel tank in the top section when i'm low on gas...
so the display DOES work.. but it no longer shows the temperature, miles per gallon, mileage, etc.
this happened before, and I removed the fuse for the cluster, and plugged it right back in firmly. This was a fix for about 3 months!!
the fuse still looks like its solid/good and the only thing i can think to do is reset my service warning?
one problem, i forgot how. Does anyone here know how to reset this, so i don't see "SERVICE" every time i start the vehicle?
Also, anyone read a thread with my exact issue? what was the fix? i cant imagine its faulty when it is obviously still displaying things at one point of each engine on to engine off.

that link was helpful, but the display is still black...
so, yay! the service warning is reset. unfortunately it didn't magically make things work like i thought it might.
now i have a fuel pump icon in the top section and a blank lower marginal section..
any ideas?
this section WILL appear if i open a door. it displays the entire car diagram with door open...
wtf?
