it depends on his insurance. if he is not covered for any car except his own...2 things could happen
1) the victim could sue him
2) they could sue you or go after your insurance since its your car.
Bottom line is make sure he is covered no matter what car he drives or you will be the one sorting through the wreckage if the infortunate happens

actually I just talked to the insurance...
they said as long as that driver has the permission to drive from the owner of the car..car is still covered.....
May be it is slightly differs from company to company tho..
