I'm considering the purchase of an A4 1.8T...just wondering what the insurance rates are like. Does the "turbo" part make the rates to go up a lot? Maybe I should wait a year, until after I turn 25 (rates are supposed to come down then I think).

... And that's after making a $410 initial payment! I also have a perfect driving record, and have never made an insurance claim on my A4. <p> In addition, my insurer, Commerce Insurance Co., also located in Mass., gives me a safe driver credit, passive alarm credit and airbag credit, yet I'm still paying through the nose. And it's not like I live in Boston; I live in Springfield, population 60,000. What a ripoff!<p> I guess that's why they call this state "Taxachusetts!"<p>StevenN '96 A4 qm

I'm being quoted 2300 per 6 mo here in houston (on a 99 quattro 1.8T). I'm 24; no tickets have made it to my record.<p>Note: The quote for a new Ram Ar Trans Am was CHEAPER by about $200 per 6! One of these things is not like the other...That 'turbo' word seems to read 'thru the f'ing nose!' to insurance agents. Also, quattro seems to be considered 'race modifications,' as it RAISED the rate quote.<br>My conclusion: the insurance companies are lowering the rate on cars in which you have a better chance of dying in impact, as survivors fill out claim forms.<br> I'm AFRAID to ask for the quote on a Volvo...<br>

Well, it sounds like there's quite a wide range of rates. I'm currently 23 (I don't turn 24 until October). I have 20th Century, no tickets ever (I've had my license for 6 years). I had one non at fault accident four years ago. The guy that hit me decided to sue me for a large sum of money. 20th Century believed that I wasn't at fault, but they ended up settling and giving the guy $19,000. I will be interesting what rate they quote me (I haven't checked yet). I probably won't be able to buy anything until I figure out where all my money's going right now...
