Default intake leak

My check engine light came on. I took the car to a shop and they did the diagnostic and the code that came up was a intake leak they used a smoke machine and still couldnt find the leak I havent taking it to a audi dealer yet, so what it does is sometimes at idle the idle goes up and down and sometimes it does more when the a/c is on. Thanks for any help oh and by the way its a 00 1.8TQ tip

Default Thats your everyday, run of the mill vacuum leak.

Get yourself a squirt bottle, and fill it with water. gently spray the area(s) where you suspect the leak with the engine running. If your idle changes dramatically, or the engine stalls, thats where your leak is.
