Default Intake on my AEB?

98.5 1.8TQM A4

i'm looking to make a custom Intake for my car, and i'm wondering what to do with the extra 2-3 electrical conections to the airbox.

i'm asuming one does ambient temp, and maybe another does pressure inside the box, somone let me know if i'm wrong. and i'm not sure if theres a third, as i'm doing this off memory

pretty sure its going to come down to some piping and a cone filter, perhaps a heat sheild, or a custom inclosure.

i'm just wondering what has worked the best for you guys, and what you did with the extra conections?

Default Don't do it!! Search the archives

We call them "hot air intakes". Unless you are going big turbo, stay with the stock intake. The stock intake is one thing that the Audi engineers got right.

Meh....I loved my intake. If you have a correct heatshield, I think an intake is a good thing.

Default My issue with open intakes is that I have yet to find a "cone" that actually filters worth a cr@p.

I made a really nice heat shield on my last Avant and it worked very very well at keep the intake cool.... but a K&N filter will never again be put on any vehicle i own. They simply allow too much crap in.

I have seen some newer filters, non oiled etc. Do you have any recommendations as to a "good" cone type filter? I would be interested, but for now i enjoy the quiet stock intake, and the stage three is making plenty of power to keep me happy.... for now! =)

Default ITG has always been a good foam filter....

You can also always add a pre-filter over-top of the cone filter to aid in the filtration.
