This si teh button to turn off the motion sensor when you park & set the alarm. I've used it when i have my dog in the car & I have to run in the store for something. Otherwise, when you set the alarm, any interior movement will set it off.<p>99.5 1.8TQS-Tip

Default It's always on when the alarm is enabled; push the B-pillar button to disable motion sensing.

The small grills in the corners (except the driver's side) at the top of the pillars are some sort of motion sensors. They detect movement when the alarm is armed, and then set off the alarm when they detect motion. The button on the B-Pillar turns off this feature- generally, when the windows are open in even a slightly windy area, the breeze will set off the motion sensor by disrupting the waves they emit.

My '00 1.8's motion sensor is so sensitive that if any window or the sunroof is open at all when it's parked, the slightest breeze, booming car stereo, or rumbling exhaust will set off the alarm. In the Summer when I crack open the windows while it's parked I always de-activate the sensor on the pillar button before locking it. Make it a habit or you'll be running to your car on a regular basis.
