Intermittent "air leak" and "lean on bank 2" codes after long highway drives.

'96 A4 Quattro with 12V. This has happened twice now. The car runs fine around town and on short trips. Last summer I drove it 250 miles to Seattle. It ran fine and threw no codes. Next morning it stumbled and stalled out and threw an air leak and lean on bank two code. I replaced all of the vacuum hoses and verified that there are no leaks in the intake. Sixty miles later, the fuel pump crapped out and I assumed that was what was causing the problem. Yesterday, I drove to Seattle again and the exact same thing happened. No problems at all until I tried to start it in the morning, then I got the same two codes. It's fine at highway speeds, and once it warms up the idle is fine, but there's a bit of stumbling at times. Any clues?

also the plastic accordian hose... any cracks?
That gasket b/n the TB and plenum is known to wear out over time. There's a writeup on the 12v forum on how to handle it w/o replacing it (phone cord mod, posted by user 711 to help the search).
Other than that, only other thing I can think of is a dying ISV. Does the car stall when idling at all?
