That person's problem was 10 years ago, so I hope by now they fixed it! The old B5 series wasn't so smart as your 2011 A6, and couldn't shut specific things down like that. Your A6 monitors battery charging current to help it work better and last longer too. We have a 2009 Q5, which has the newer AGM -type battery and charge monitoring, and that one lasted fully 10 years before I had to replace it.
