I have an aftermarket receiver, a clarion DXZ745MP, that has an RCA aux. input that I would like to hook my ipod up to. I did a little googling and found this:
<img src="http://www.installer.com/photos/aip-rca.jpg">
it says "IPOD plug charges IPOD when in use converts to stereo RCAs - hooks into bottom of ipod, not headphone jack."
I found this on installer.com and it is $30. Does this look like a good product? Basically I want something that has rca outs, and will plug into the bottom of the ipod so it can charge it - basically exactly what this one does. I was just seeing if anybody knew of a better product. hmmm, now what should I use to mount in my car?
Thanks guys<ul><li><a href="http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=aip-rca">http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=aip-rca</a</li></ul>

When I integrated my iPod into my GTI, I bought a Belkin power adapter. It had power and audio out.
I also bought a 12v adapter for about 3 dollars, which I stuck under the knee bolster, so nothing on the power end was shown. It worked very nicely.
Here's a picture. Or two.

As Mica said, you can get an extra 12v outlet, splice it into the cigarette lighter, and hook it all up under the dash for a clean look. In my old car I had it all set up with just the cable running out and the ipod mounted in the holder in the link below. The holder fits the iPod perfectly and the gap in the bottom is just the right size for the ipod charger.<ul><li><a href="http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103140&cp=2032052.2032075 .2032076.2032086&parentPage=family">http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103140&cp=2032052.2032075 .2032076.2032086&pare

They don't make them anymore. I loved the touch screen, and the color matched well, but I ended up going back to OEM. I just really prefer the OEM look.

in hand. does clarion make a model specific cable that will truly integrate the ipod so you can control it from the head unit? most stereo manufactures have gone this route

But now that you mention it, it would be nice if I could control it with the HU. I'll check into it.

I also used the blitzsafe, works well. I routed the wire around the glove box and used a pro-clip mount, see my pic poster.
I bought it here I think but there are many online sources for it.
