Default I've read the Archives but I need an UP to Date answer on what TURBO kit to get....(more)

APR stage 3, PES T-28, ATP, KO4....what is the best kit out there....

I read the APR kit was not worth the 4K it cost, and the ATP has an insane kit coming out...Also, the T-28 kit is smooth and fast...and cheaper now too. What to get is the question and if you have any UNBIASED opinions please feel free to post. THANKS~!

How bout like this.

THe APR Stage 3 and PES T-28 dyno similar power. The kits cost roughly same and are the only major kits available with properly tuned software.

The ATP kit isn't available, it may not be months.

The K04 kit from AWE is a 235-245 HP base kit. The APR Stage 3/PES T-28 kits are 280-290HP kits. The AWE kit is also $1700. APR/PRES is $4k

DSR is working on a K04 kit that is supposed to push the 260-280 range AFAIK. Still, not available.

Thats pretty much all you to choose form kit wise.

If you want to spend $4K. It's S3 or T28. Pick the one who is closest I'd say.

Default Here is my UNBIASED opinion.......

Go find someone in you area with a PES kit. Then find someone with a APR kit. Problem solved...you can be the judge. The kits drive differently...to get a real feel for a kit, you have to drive in it.

Default Me personally....

would get the T-28. Right now it's the best priced big turbo kit out there. You wont be able to beat the price and service that PES has for their customers.

APR well... it's APR, I'm not gonna say anything about that.
ATP its not out there yet and may compromise the drivability of your car.
K04... well its a K04 just slightly larger than stock. And allows up to about 230hp for most kits out there.

Default No one will have an unbiased opinion. No one has owned all of the above so all views will be filled..

....with second hand info.

I think the first thing is to ask yourself some questions.
What are you willing to suffer with in terms of bugs and kinks?
What type of use will the car see?
Where do you want the power to be in the RPM range?
Can you work on the car?
Which tuners are supported in your area?
And many more........

Default I remember being in that delima......

What year car do you have?? If you have an 01 APR is not an option right now since they do not have kit out yet. Also the APR kit is kind of proprietary. You can only use their d/p and stuff like that. I did not like that part.

ATP : Manual Boost Control, its still in the testing stages, and in all honesty I would not run a manual boost control in our cars.

As you can probably already tell I choose PES. The reason being that the kit is cheaper than APR. Produces similar numbers, and you can mate it to any exhaust, d/p, FMIC you wish. The staff there take the time to talk to you and explain everything. I had heard nothing but great reviews about their customer svc and I have to agree. They really treat you well.

The kit is getting installed this weekend. :-D so I'll be able to tell you how it feels after Sat.

Oh and one more reason: Its on SALE now!!!!

Just my opinion.

Default Eh, so I was off by $1000 on each kit, whats an extra grand when your spending $4k?

BTW, Rich. Isnt the PES only 3399 because it's on sale. Regular price $4k?
