Default Ummm...

I'm confused...if they are recommending a TB change...why isn't that covered under the recall? Since you have their recommendation on paper, maybe you can persuade Audi to pick up the tab for that?

The rest of it...sheesh...that can't all have gone bad right now. WTH!

Default PN Info:

058 109 479B - Belt Tensioning Damper
2VW 237 912 - Invalid PN
038 121 119B - Washer

I have no idea what shop is telling you this, but you might as well bend over and take it.

Default apparently

apparently, they were just doing inspection on those recall items, if there is a factory defect, they'll replace under warranty.

Yet, they said everything looks fine, except those ones should be replaced.

the dealer i went to was HBL at Tyson's in Northern VA.

Default i think i'd start to get all the tools for all these jobs..

I have some basic mechanic knowledge, yet haven't really put hands on anything yet except modding my clear-corner, xenon headlights, oil pressure switch, air-filter..etc....

i duno how difficult those jobs will be to me, but hopefully tech sections will give me enough knowledge. ~~

Also, the tie-rod end, would it better to buy those heavy duty ones than OE?

Default Well if it looks fine, why would it need to be replaced?

Sorry, Audi is walking a very thin line here, and I don't like it at all. They put substandard parts on this car, didn't provide the proper guidance in their documentation, and rather than fixing the timing belt issues, they do these "bogus" inspections to clear their name. Meanwhile, the dealer advises you to get the service done (good advice BTW) even though you haven't yet reached the recommended mileage interval.

Anyway, the dealer is charging you too much for the work. Get the TB done elsewhere. The rest of the work may not need to be done, or can be postponed.

Default Agree..

I dont see the point why they have recall, yet they should replace TB for free of charge. My car now has 120k miles on it, and I did my timing belt around 70k miles.

The control arm problems are just killing me. I replaced 3 of them 1.5 yrs ago, and now they've all gone bad or losen. The cluster is just fading like **** and I've spoken with Service manager at the Audi, they claimed that control arm and cluster display are not the major problems in terms of factor defects. They rarely see any cars with those problems.
I was like Full of Bulls !!...Many of the AW members are suffering under those issues, yet, AOA has not done anything to compensate audi customers...I just feel frustrated somehow.
