Default even my little gti is a blast cause it's manual

especially for driving in snow...

The tip system in audi = sooo slow.

I've driven al2k's car a bunch, and jeebus man. even with just a chip, you can't utilize the revs at all. In tip mode it only hold revs for so long

Default I can hold a rev as long as I want with Tip (car is chipped which removed Rev limiter).).

And I can also manually switch gears in the snow.

Some cars are fine with automatics... the A4 being one of them.
Smaller, lighter, (more) performance-oriented cars will be more
fun with manual I'd agree.

Agreed, Audi could've done better there. However, GIAC does make a tip chip to remove lag ($250).

Default The lag time is less than the lag time of shifting a manual, but because you're not doing anything..

it just seems longer. I've gone through the motions of pretending to clutch/row, and it makes the lag seem really short.

My '00 tip stock has about the same lag as my 98.5 with a tip chip.

?? that doesn't sound right. I heard with the tip chip shifting was instantaneous.

Default Lets put it this way, it went from tolerable to fast (the change) and the torque converter feel...

is much crisper.

BUT, apparently Audi realized that people didn't like the way it felt, and made some changes on their own.

No, stock it's not nearly as crisp as it is with the tip chip, but I don't have one for my 00 A6 yet (nor do I plan on it, because it's more than fine).

Now, compared to DSG, which is lightening fast, the tips are pretty slow..
