well after the dealer told me that i needed to replace a few control arms, the tie rods, and the cv joints... and that i might as well do it all at once bc it would only cost me 1400 if i did instead of 2200 if i did it piece by piece...
i drove 210 miles down to wilmington and went to my independent shop. told the owner about my good deals from ecstuning, he told me he could beat those prices with MAHL control arms and some other parts...
today they looked at my car for free, instead of charging me $45 to look at it. he told me the lower control arms are ok, and that he would only change the upper ones if it was his car. and the tie rods and cv joints. he said including labor, he can do that for ~$900...
now i know the price is awesome bc he knows me and is cutting me a good deal (only charging about $40 per hour, usually the shop charges $78) and he's giving me the parts at cost...
is this a good idea to change only the uppers, tie rods, and cv joints. he said i could go ahead and change them all if i wanted, it would just cost more money in parts... but he said they weren't bad. and that he would let me know what he thought about them when he got them off the car too just to be sure...
my car should probably be going into the shop on thursday morning to get all my creaking, clicking, and squeals fixed
