<img src="http://rt.fm/~jcs/media/audi_a4/2002-10-24_neuspeed_rear_sway_bar_day_4/cpp_uplinks.jpg">
I was wondering what length the adjustable uplinks should be put on. originally i was going to set them equal to the stock uplink length. is this ok?
What will the effect on the handling be if i make the uplinks longer or shorter?
Does it matter if they are installed hex side up or down? is there a difference?
Finally, I am setting the bar on medium if that makes any difference. (stiff drivers, soft passengers)
Thanks a ton guys!

Set them the same as stock
Or as close as possible.
Then quickly make your way to an alignment shop.
Setting them shorter or longer than stock will make very large differences in your handling, and tire wear.

wait - you need an alignment after installing a new swaybar?
I had heard to the contrary. Maybe I took stupid pills that day though... the reason I'm asking is that I did rear swaybar uplinks + rear swaybar at the same time...

Doh
Sorry, I was thinking they were upper control arm links.
Nevermind. =P
There's no real benefit to making them longer or shorter unless you have clearance issues, like the bar hitting something. Generally you're safe setting them the same length.
