Just got off the Phone w/Brian's Garage...After all my research on H&R CO's...

the Bilsteins and H&R springs are firm... C/Os are inheritently softer (more forgiving on rough roads).. just as stated in my original post.

they will give you a lower stance.. and better handling. The drop is not too much for city driving, and it's alot cheaper than C/O's.
BTW, as adjustable as the C/O's can be.. you prob. won't be adjusting them all that much. Once you get the New England winter salt/grim on them... they are pretty much "set". You certainly don't want to adjust them after you get build-ups on the threading.

3/4" or so, and going over bumps or bad roads would be really clunky and bottom out etc...

Not collapse, settle. For coilovers, I typically wait three weeks before making final adjustments to ride height, corner balancing or alignment. My stasis suspension settled after initial install. Their spring are manufactured by Hyperco (probably the same manufacturer of Shine's springs). VERY high quality, and a respected name in the industry.
The clunking with H&R's is due to the top of the rear shocks having a larger hole through them than the OEM bolt used to hold them in place. H&R's solution is to over torque that bolt, which works to some small degree.
Bottoming out...would be a result of a blown shock or a car that was lowered too much.

Mostly, it was quiet. Rough pavement, like cobblestone, would bring out the worst, and it would sound like a rattling. Overtorqueing that bolt helped, but didn't cure it 100%. In spite of that, I liked the suspension enough that I was not about to replace it because of this.
