what would be better, the aluminized glass? or the polyurethane?

Default maybe if you cut it to hold some kind of filter, that would stop the water, then make some holes in

bottom of the actual airbox.... so as the water stops on the filter, it would drop out the bottom of the box... right?

Default Probably both

The aluminized fiberglass will block the radiant heat (similar to how ceramic coatings on headers keep it from being emitted) and the polyurethane will help fight heat from conduction.
