So here we go. On the plus side I snagged a pair of TT caliper brackets off of ebay for a grand total of $95 shipped
Naturally this is the good news as I now share with you the bad news.
Just moments before I got home to bid on my items. My car started to act up. So now that I've had some free time I logged the codes and looky what showed up...
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
16687 - Cyl.3 Misfire Detected
18014 - Rough Road Spec Engine Torque ABS-ECU Electrical Malfunction
Looks like I get to spend a lil' extra money on a new ICM and nothing is better than getting your ABS module rebuilt!
I'm going to switch the coil packs on cylinders 3 and 4 just to make sure its the ICM. BTW, would any local parts store carry this item?
But other than that, does anyone think it could be something else.
TIA for listening. :done venting:
edit. not the plugs, just checked them. not the TB since its an AEB (97' 1.8T). ADDED pic cause I haven't seen it in awhile...

Ertman!
Switched coil packs this morning. The wiring looked fine I pulled back the boots and everything was still intact and not corroded/melted. So it looks like its the ICM since the misfire did not jump after the switch. I'll keep you guys posted.
Thanks for all of your help.
and your prize is... +1 eprops? LoL.
edit* went back and checked wiring as well as cleaned up the part. Figured it was worth exploring a cheap fix before pulling the trigger on a new one. no results
