I just purchased a 1998 A4 1.8T with 5 speed for $15,500. The car is in excellent condition (I had a foreign car specialist check it out) and has 36k miles. I have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to respond.

1) Do you think this is a good price for the car?

2) The seats have what appear to me to be a catskin-like leather. A dealer with Audi said they did not offer leather in that model. Did audi offer a "leatherette" material similar to BMW for that model? Either way, it is a lot nicer than cloth.

3) The dealer I bought it from gave me a 3/36k warranty that covers everything except wear items for $730. Okay??

4) Lastly, the mechanic who checked it out heard a thumping in the back end. He thought is was a bushing problem, but told me to have it checked by the dealer. Has anyone had that issue?

1. great price for the car.... depending on exactly what half of the year the car was made.

2. Leatherette was the material other than cloth for 1.8 A4s

3. great price for an extended warranty... hopefully you'll put it to good use, be very careful your timing belt might be close in need of changing.

4. could quite possibly be a control arm, definately have your dealership check it out.
