Default Just talked to Greedspeed...(long)

I asked some questions:
Difference between .8 bar and 1.0 bar chip:
He said that he does not recommend the 1.0 bar chip with the stock K-03 turbo because it exceeds the specifications of the turbo. Their .8 chip provides 11-12 lbs of boost and their 1.0 provides 14-15 lbs of boost. He basically said that boost is boost. Any chip that delivers .8 or 1.0 boost ranges will provide about the same HP.
Pinging:
He said with the new programming from Audi on the 99.5 cars, I think he said D-06?, that there isn't many problems with pinging at all. Basically he said if the car has a problem with pinging prior to chip then it probably will after chip. Some cars are just prone to pinging, he said. About 1 in 2-3k.
Timing advance:
He said that the timing advance is to help with HP in the lower RPM ranges when the boost is low. It's really not advanced much anyway.
Different chip with Tip?
He said that the ECU is the same with the Tip. As we all know, there is a seperate Tip ECU.
Hope this is useful. Please don't flame me, I'm just the messenger.

Default Also, they have never had a customer be denied warranty service because of the chip...

In fact, the local VW dealer takes cars to them to have them chipped.

Default This statement could be misleading...

Also, they have never had a customer be denied warranty service because of the chip...
This statement could be misleading...it almost sounds as if Audi "approves" of the Neuspeed chip, which to my knowledge, is not true. Unfortunately, AoA disapproves of all chips. Sure there are some "chip-friendly/chip-neutral" dealers out there (I personally know of one in my area...they like the Garrett chip) but you have to be real careful with blanket statements like you made...newbies on the forum may misinterpret this as it's OK to chip your 1.8T as long as it's with a Neuspeed chip.
Andy Hedin
'97 A4 1.8Tqms, Wett 1.0 Bar, ABT Filter, Euro Headlights...

Default Consider this his post to the chip survey stating that he has never had a problem.

Default Hey "Chipper"...care to respond???

Before you go around saying that I lied on DonP's chip survey, you really should get your facts straight. Just for the record, I reported that I had detonation problems and that if I were to do it all over again I'd probably go with a different tuner.
Andy Hedin
