Just took apart two of the stock A4 bypass valves. Neither ripped, but one soaked in oil.
The valves are very easy to take a part, just use a pair of dikes to snip the overlapped seam where the two halves of the valve are sonic-welded.
One valve was off my car, not chipped. From what I can decipher, based on the accumulation of dust on the valves - my valve having more dust on it since I replaced it over a year ago - my valve was pretty much bone dry inside. No rips could be found.
The other valve, off a chipped car (name is not mentioned for obvious reasons), did have oil in it. Had less dust on it, so I am guessing this is the case. I also didn't recall seeing oil on my valve when I pulled it out, but did see it on this one when I pulled it out. There's actually a good layer of oil inside the valve. I could probably tip the valve upside down and it would run out of the valve if left overnight.
Sorry, no pictures...
So - anyone have any ideas on why a car running more boost might show more oil in the bypass valve? I recall a similar debate on oil being present in the tt bpv's about a year ago actually. All those that have recently upgraded to TT bpv's should take apart their old ones and check it out - report your findings.

I just replaced my stock BPV over the weekend...
01.5 w/ 30K stock miles.
I was also a bit suprised when I saw how oily it was, although I didn't take it completely apart (looking around with a flash light).
BTW, I replaced it with the TT BPV.
Kind Regards
