Default K&N Panel Filter

I bought a K&N drop in Panel filter for my 99 A4 2.8 30v. My buddy say's he heard somewhere that the oil in the filter will **** up my Mass Air Flow sensor. Is this true, or pure myth? And if its true, and I get a reason behind it.

It's true and if you get anything, it's a new MAF.

Default I've heard mixed thoughts about this. I had a K&N filter for

awhile but got rid of it after noticing an oily film on my MAF (mass air flow) sensor. Since then I've just used the oem brand filters. Basically you've got to decide if it's worth the risk, a $50 air filter that you never have to replace, or spending $260 on a new MAF. To me the answer is obvious.

Default Main problem is that paper filters smaller particles than the K&N Gauze and Oil..

Plus the "increase" in HP is debatable...

The trade off is worse filtering for better airflow.
