Default KEY PROGRAMMING HELP!

i got a switch blade key for my car cut today and it works great unlocks and locks doors trunk and glove box. however i cannot successfully program the remote part yet. i have instructions that read...

Insert key into ignition switch. switch ignition to on. within 30 seconds, carry out the following procedure...

1. insert additional key into drivers door, lock the vehical manually.
2. press remote transmitter LOCK or UNLOCK button.
3. wait at least 2 seconds
4.press remote transmitter LOCK or UNLOCK again.
5. repeat steps 2-4 for additionaly remote

switch ignition OFF
remove key from ignition.

problem i am having is i do eveything and get to step 2 and see my tail lights headlights and side markers blinking as i press lock or unlock. i wait 2 seconds press the lock unlock buttons again the the lights on my car are blinking. i unlock the door with the key and remove the key from the ignition and my remote no makes my lights blink.( DURING this process the doors never locked or unlocked with the buttons. only the lights blink). also no horn sounds like the fob in the b5 faq explains....

Default Try this:

1. insert additional key into drivers door, lock the vehical manually.
2. press remote transmitter UNLOCK button once
3. insert additional key into drivers door, unlock and then lock the vehical manually.
4. Test the remote by pressing UNLOCK

Repeat steps 1-4 with the second remote, except you'll need to press the UNLOCK button twice in step 2.

This is based on the tech article below, worked well for me when I replaced my batteries last week.

Clicky
