The trunk button only works on Avants - IIRC.

Default Re: Oh, you mean the Central Locking controller? You'll need VAG-COM for that.

What are you talking about? do i need to do something special to get the remote to work with my car?

Yes. I just got one from that exact seller myself. Just need to get it cut, and program it in.

Default I think you might be a little confused.

The procedure I listed is in fact for programming new remotes in. You need VAG-COM if you car has the immobilizer insalled. It can also be used to monitor the remote matching process, and confirm the memory/remote operation. Key matching for the immboilizer is a very different procedure, and can also be found on Ross Tech's site.

Remote Matching with VAG-COM

Default I highly recommend you do the remote antenna mod found in the Tech section as well.

What is the immobilizer? Do I need to do this procedure on my car?

Default The only way you know is if when you turn your car to ON, you'll see a key appear on the

instrument cluster. If you don't its not a worry, and you don't need to concern yourself with it. I don't think it appeared in the US until the 99.5 models.
