Will it increase my accelaration. Any idea on the labor hours and "other" parts needed.

Default You will need to change the software and injectors but other then that yes. Same exhaust

manifold and everything but you should get an after market cat back, 2.5 diameter preferred.
It will give you faster acceleration as well as high end power. I have heard install is about 2 hours, obviously this depends on your mechanical savvy as well as tool selection.

Default Answers...

Yes, Yes, Yes, about six, and "see the AWE K04 kit". In that order. And no new injectors are needed (again, see AWE's K04 kit for necessary "other stuff"). And anyone that says two hours better put the crack pipe down.

Default Are the 170HP engines necessarily better equipped for a K04? (i.e. compression, injectors, BPV,etc)?

That is to say... are the 2001 1.8T A4's better equipped to handle a K04 upgrade without upgrading other parts?

Default for the hp that a K04 puts out... it is not necessary...

you can install them.. then you need to get custom programming for injector rates on a chip... not necessary for a k04. necessary for larger turbo kits that will induce labor through the a$$ of a pregnant woman though. since you will be needing to request enough fuel to keep up with a/f ratio.
