Default Are Koni coilovers supposed to have a low friction ring between the spring and top adjustment ring?

Have a buddy with Koni Coilovers and the fronts pretty much need to be removed and springs compressed to adjust them. The spring sits right on the adjustment ring so binds making it not adjustable while on the car.

Default i bought my koni coilovers many years ago...

back then you could call them up and they would send you washers. They gave you rubber washers for the front and plastic for the rear. Not really sure if they make a difference though.
