In case you didn't see it, someone (sorry to say, I forget who) mentioned a few weeks ago that they'd picked up a brochure at their dealer that offered a free windshield cleaning kit -- consisting of a "Spray Gloss Enhancer" and clay bar. I was at my dealer's today, and sure enough -- there among the informational brochures was one entitled "Caring For Your Car's Windshield". No indication on the face of it that a "free" offer lies within. But all you have to do is complete and send in a shipping info card, and they mail the kit to you. They don't even ask for the make or model of your car, and the card itself is Business-Reply free postage. I must admit, I grabbed a few of those brochures. :-) Apparently the spray not only acts to lubricate the clay bar during the cleaning process; according to the brochure, it also "reduces the surface tension of water, causing it to bead and blow off the windshield more easily". It says that the kit can/should be used "every couple of months or so, depending on conditions." Anyway, just wanted to express my thanks to the person who originally mentioned it (I wouldn't have known to look otherwise), and to AW for providing the means to learn about it! Lastly, note: This is a VW brochure, not an Audi brochure. I don't know if Audi has one that's identical, but since the make/model of car isn't an issue, it doesn't matter.

so Tyler, Asst SM, told me to call 1-800-822-AUDI (Audi Client Relations) and try them. Maybe I'll check over at their VW counter.

The brochure I picked up is definitely made by Audi, with the front cover displaying a TT surrounded by an S4 and A4s.
I picked it up in the service department, and the back cover says:
Printed in USA
W42WINDSHIELDCARE00AUE
(c)2000 Audi of America, Inc.

The one I picked up today shows a Jetta on the cover, and on the back it says
Printed in U.S.A.
October 2000
WINDSHIELDCARE1000VWE
(c)2000 Volkswagen of America, Inc.
But like I said, the card doesn't ask for make or model of car, so they apparently don't care what you're driving.

Just send your name and address to them and ask for the windshield cleaning kit. They'll probably send you one, since there's nothing magical about the card itself. Your name and address is the only info it asks for. Besides, you'd have to send a scan of the card in an envelope anyway, since the reverse side of it is the business-reply mail part.
As previously noted, mine is a VW brochure. The address is:
Volkswagen of America
c/o DDS
PO Box 360740
Strongsville OH 44136-9925
Oh, one more thing: "Your kit should arrive in 4 to 6 weeks."
