LA detail shops/ getting surface scratches out of black paint

My black S4 has a number of surface scratches (light scrapes on the paint, cannot feel with fingernail) that I'd like to remove. Some are from poor bird-dropping removal attempts (a lot of small scrapes in a general area, again, none seem to go into the paint).
I've been reading this online article I found recommended in an old post: http://www.authoswalk.com/howtopropcle.html. It sounds like a glaze would work best. I want to keep potential damage to the paint at a minimum. I'm wondering:
a) if people generally agree with this.
b) if anyone has had a detail shop do this (i.e. a glaze and not the often-advertised clay treatment).
c) if anyone has a recommendation for a shop in LA.
I might just do it myself but I'm guessing it will be a lengthy process and I don't really have a good shady spot to spend the day on it. I'm also pretty nervous I'd somehow mess it up.
Any thoughts?
