i can see the oil seaping out under the gasket. Is this common with 0w40? Should i use a heavier oil? I checked and double checked the gasket when i put the valve cover on. I know its on right. its just like the valve cover isn't putting enough pressure on the gasket.

I would think it should never leak regardless of the weight of the oil you are using.

on the valve cover (i.e. dirt or the like) and that the cover is properly seated.

old gasket in the half circle. It should be the exact same one. I put the old gasket on, and no leaks.
