Default leather seats question

I was out tonight and someone told me my seats weren't leather. Now, the dealer said they were leather. And the car sure smells like leather when it gets hot. I have a e-brake handle that has leather-like stuff on it, and the door panels as well.

Is there a surefire way to tell? I'm paranoid now.

Default it's not peforated, but it's textured--i saw someone say textured vinyl was in the 1.8T (i have 2.8)

so i was concerned that i might have the textured vinyl.

i think it's leather though. it's definitely not perforated.

Default Stick the cigarette lighter to it. If it melts....it's not leather.

but seriously, try putting leather conditioner on it. Freshly cleaned leather is a little tacky. While the leatherette doesn't really feel any different once you wipe the conditioner off.

Default For the most part. I think some 2.8 were leatherette though. IIRC leather and...

leathette were options on earlier model A4's. Not sure though, but I had a 96 2.8 a4 with leatherette.
