Default lesser evil? sustained high boost or sustained high revs? uphill driving ...

as most of you know .. it's snowing in them tahoe hills. as everyone knows .. when your destination is 1mile+ above your starting local.. youre going 'up' most of the time.

car: a4 1.8t manual, apr v1.2 1bar chip.

i cruise at a fairly speedy clip .. usually around 4k+ rpm in 5th boosting ~.6+ bar. in 4th gear i'm upwards around 5.2k+ rpms. boost is a fairly constant ~.6+ bar in 5th gear and of course i'm maintaining the 5k+ rpm in 4th gear.

which is the lesser of the 2 evils? i'm talking about *SUSTAINED* boost or rpm numbers here. an hour or so .. not minutes or seconds of acceleration. i'm always swapping to 4th or 5th for variety. my poor turbo. all that cold, dense air just makes it whistle harder.

it glows like never before!

anyone?

Default IME, lower revs and higher boost puts more strain on the bottom end, high revs gets hotter.

But that was with a supercharger, not a turbo.

Default First of all, you need to upgrade to apr v. 3.0....

I would say higher RPM is better than low rpm with high boost....
