these are the lil guys on the mats, they snap together
one side goes on either side of the mat and then the mat is clipped to the nipple things in the floor covering carpet some years are nipples other years are cam locks on the floor. My 98 has cam locks my 96 has nipples, I think our 01 has nipples.
The lil pieces in the 3d0 kit are assembled to one another with little tiny ribs on the outside of the lower section and ribs on the inside of the upper section. They interlock and I think after they get cold and stepped on a few times they break up and the mats are liberated to slide about the car freely.
