Default I was trying to localize it. I couldn't tell if it was coming from the rear...

but it's quite possible. Is there a way I can check that tensioner? I believe the chain rides on a plastic guide. Is that the tensioner?

Default I want to say no.

But I can't say that with a high degree of confidence. The cam tensioner results in a "chain slapping" type noise right? Maybe a little tinny or higher in frequency? This doesn't sound tinny. It almost sounds like that funny noise your car makes just before you stall the engine...(that's probably a really bad description).

Alex just got a new video cam...so he can probably take a few sound clips and post 'em tomorrow, rather than having me masquerade as a monkey trying to duplicate this sound.

Does that tend to be louder at idle, rather then under load?

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/19399/cam_chain_etc.jpg"></center><p>&amp; along the valve cover to see from where the sound eminates?
I'll attach a pic

Default Per Bentley's

"Engine oil temperature approximately 80C (176F).

Oil pressure at idle: 1.0-3.5 bar (14.5-50.75 psi)

Oil pressure at 3000 RPM: 5.0-7.0 bar (72.5-101.5 psi)

If specified values are not obtained, the pressure relief valve or the oil pump is faulty. "
