Lights dim >> car tries to stall... lights dim >> car tries to stall.
Another problem just surfaced, I'm not sure if it's the cold, but I need your opinions on this.
Yesterday I left my car out in -20C temperatures for a while and drove it 'til it was warmed. Got home, parked, the the RPMs slowly went down 'til it stalled. I thought it was the extreme cold.
Today, I drove it for much longer on the highway. It was totally warmed up and was driving fine. Parked it at home... and the lights would dim BEFORE the RPMs dipped almost causing it to stall.. this cycle repeated 'til I turned that car off.
I can't afford to have it die on me now. Could it be the alternator? I have a solid CEL, but that's my EVAP. I'll be scanning it tomorrow, but don't expect to see anything out of the ordinary.

BTW: heater was off. Also this was hardcore dimming and dipping, enough to almost choke the engine.
Lights also go very dim when I crank engine to start the car.
Suck at diagnosing this stuff...

My dad always said
Never have any electronics on before you crank your car. Dunno if that makes a difference on anything, but I normally try to start the engine with lights and everything off.

exactly what my last car did when the alternator went out too..
started out like this then the next day i was stranded in the middle of the freaking 4 lane intersection in the left hand turn lane facing up hill.. good thing that car had steel bumpers got a guy in a truck to push me up the hill out of the way of traffic.. pulled the part out took it in got a replacement and put it back and was on my way 4 hours later.. i remember how HOT it was that day.. in the middle of the summer.. sure beats auto work in the winter ..
