Had a great 2 days this week at Lime Rock. First day heat was brutal. I did not enjoy that, and neither did my car, but the sudden temp drop down to about 70 on the second day made for some great track time.
The Quattro Club runs a nice event, but the run groups were poorly organized, IMO. To much of a disparity of speed/skill in the groups made for some interesting experiences. Only 3 sessions a day, too, but some were 30 mins instead of 20. I also found it unusual that you got arbitrarily assigned to a run group instead of selecting it yourself, which may have contributed to the problem I just mentioned. I did appreciate the fact that they assigned everyone to an instructor, regardless of run group. Always nice to get some feedback and advice from someone with a lot of experience. Most of us got soloed off quickly.
Generally, everyone was good with their mirrors, and quick with the point-bys, so at least in my run group, we didn't have the problem of getting stuck in a "train" of cars that can be so common at a short track like LRP.
Met some great guys from the forum....we all had a blast on the track, and there were no incidents other than some mechanical failures....
One S4 left on a flatbed with a blown passenger-side turbo, and another with a blown power steering hose that created a little drama as the fluid leaked on the exhaust manifold....other than that, no issues, other than me fighting some high coolant temps the first day. All the A4's held up great, as far as I know :-)
Anyway, great to meet all you guys and hope to see you on the track again, or maybe at the NE Audi event!
