A little track footage to chase the winter blues away. I'm ready for spring, guys...

Last fall, Harvey Siegel from VIR was supposed to be a day away from buying
NL. It was said that he was planning on investing millions there over this winter -- a'la VIR. I haven't heard anything since. That would have been awesome, but I'd guess that the economy killed the deal, but who knows?

That Oaktree/Carousel section gives me the heebie jeebies. I swear, one tire in the grass and....

very narrow track. all I see is bushes and trees. hopefully, it's cheap to go there. otherwise
save your money and go to MidOhio.

Those were the Toyo T1-S.
I really want to get a set of R's this year. I rode with a guy in a Ford Exp with R-comps, and his cornering speeds were nuts. Certainly, he's quite a bit lighter, and the speed sensation is different in the passenger seat, but still.
It's not so much that NL's is narrow, it just that there is very little run-off area. The 3:50 point of that video (IIRC) is where you're right next to the big Oak, from there around to the straight, the tire barriers are only a few yards off the track. The allure of that track isn't necessarily the cost ($100 track days) or the proximity (15 miles from my house), it is one of the fastest 2+ mile road courses in the country -- based on SCCA class times. Literally only 3 braking areas, the rest is nearly flat out.

My biggest beef with the track is the pavement -- every time I go, it feels like I take out at least one suspension component, lol. Stark contrast to BeaveRun where the pavement is still almost new.

Ohio Valley ACNA does at least 2 events per year there -- believe it or not.
But yet, they only made one trip to BeaveRun and nixed it every year since b/c some members thought the track was "boring." Perhaps, wide track, smooth asphalt, and plenty of runoff isn't as exciting?

I could live with the track width if the trees were pushed back at least double the current distance
and the damn asphalt was properly taken care of. Patches in the road are way distracting and annoying - blowing one's concentration as you try to pass illegally in the corners.
The most popular track here in NorCal is definitely Thunderhill with track runoff of about, oh, two miles ?
I prefer tighter, twistier tracks such as in the video but damn..... a little upkeep please.
