Locked Glove Box - Any Ideas?

Locked Glove Box - Any Ideas?
Recently the handle on my glove box partially detached on my 99.5 A4. I managed to get the handle back in place but now the box behaves as if it is always locked - regardless of which way I turn the key. Anybody know how to get into this thing or to repair the problem?
